There’s a special kind of magic in having Positive Strides right across the road—and Kimba brings that magic with her every time she steps onto the farm. After moving to Statum Road in 2023, she and her husband Rich named their new home Now or Never Acres, fulfilling her lifelong dream of having horses in her own backyard. And once she settled in, she wasted no time jumping into the Positive Strides family.

“I cannot describe how excited I am to be living directly across from Positive Strides and volunteered as soon as I got settled in,” Kimba shares. She’s quick to praise the atmosphere here—supportive, uplifting, and full of heart. Watching riders build confidence week after week is what lights her up most, and she insists the real heroes are Kim and the PS horses, whom she lovingly calls “saints.”

Kimba’s own herd at home includes two mini horses, a former Amish buggy Morgan, and a 31-year-old retired Saddlebred—plus a mean cat, two very sweet dogs, and her ever-patient husband Rich. Before diving into farm life full-time, she retired in 2019 after 34 years with Queen Anne’s County Library.

When she’s not helping at lessons, you’ll find her reading, listening to books, baking, traveling in the mini-Winnie, mowing grass, or cleaning stalls. Her “theme songs” for Positive Strides--Won’t You Be My Neighbor and This Is Me—fit her perfectly: welcoming, wholehearted, and wonderfully authentic.

We’re grateful every day that Kimba decided to “hoof it” across the street and become part of our Positive Strides family.
